white chocolate fondue

This post was created in partnership with feedfeed and Lindt Chocolate. All opinions are our own.

The restaurant we used to visit on birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions recently shut down. There are other locations, but the nearest one is now over forty miles away. They specialized in delicious fondues and the entire meal was prepared at your table. The three-course dinner would always begin with a cheese fondue of your choice. One of the friendly servers knew how much we liked garlic, so he would make sure to pile loads of it into the pot along with the shredded cheese, spices, and splashes of beer or wine that would cook until bubbling hot and fragrant, right in front of you. Cubes of crusty bread, sliced celery, carrots, and apples would accompany this savory appetizer, which was still light enough to leave room for the next two courses. The main entrée fondue was a tangy Caribbean-inspired broth, aromatic with fresh garlic and citrus. For vegetarians they offered a platter of artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms, broccoli florets, cheese ravioli, and mixed vegetables that is simmered in the zesty broth at your leisure. But the most difficult thing to choose on the menu were the dessert fondues. With decadent combinations like chocolate peanut butter, chocolate caramel, and even s’mores fondue, we made sure to try a new one every time. Our local restaurant is long gone, so we took matters into our own hands and figured out a way to recreate this festive dessert at home, and amazed ourselves by turning it into something even better than the original. This pure white chocolate fondue is here to start 2017 off with a warm—and deliciously sweet— welcome.

Perfect for parties, this melted masterpiece made popular in the 1970’s is making a comeback… in our kitchen and soon in yours! Five simple ingredients is all it takes to make this quick crowd-pleaser. We started with a Lindt CLASSIC RECIPE White Chocolate Bar and slowly melted it with cream, butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt, transforming it into the smoothest, richest, and creamiest white chocolate fondue—surpassing our expectations from our formerly-favorite, long-lost location. And how cool is this? We partnered with Lindt Chocolate to create this recipe because they are the Official Confection Sponsor of the Golden Globes for the second year. Lindt also invited us to a Pre-Golden Globes Influencer Luncheon and the Weinstein-Netflix After Party, where they are a Presenting Sponsor. We will be dressing up and reporting live from the event on our Instagram stories on January 6 and 8, so join us on our chocolate adventures and catch some behind-the-scenes fun from the red carpet.

If you’re planning a viewing party this weekend, this dessert is elegant enough to be the centerpiece, and it couldn’t be easier to make. You mix everything in a pot, melt it over low heat, and voilà, the silkiest fondue is ready to be served warm alongside all your favorite toppings. Fresh fruit like strawberries, apples, and bananas can share the space with sweeter options like brownie bites, marshmallows, and pound cake so there is something for everyone. Anything from graham crackers to rice krispy treats is fair game, and really… what doesn’t taste good dipped in smooth melted white chocolate? Your friends will be impressed with your fondue-making skills no matter what toppings you choose, and the fact that it took less than 10 minutes to make can be our little secret. Happy dipping!

white chocolate fondue

For the fondue:
1/2 cup (118ml) heavy cream
2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter
12 ounces (340g) Lindt CLASSIC RECIPE White Chocolate Bar, chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Ideas for dipping:
apples
bananas
strawberries
grapes
brownie pieces
poundcake
marshmallows
pretzels

In a small saucepan, combine the cream, butter, white chocolate, salt, and vanilla extract and place over low heat. Stir until the chocolate melts and the mixture is completely smooth, about 5 minutes. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the pan as you stir to prevent the chocolate from scorching, and remove from heat as soon as the mixture is smooth. Pour the mixture into a fondue pot and place over a low heat source to keep warm. Serve with some (or all) of the items listed above, or get creative with your own dipping ideas! Enjoy!

note:
— If using apples, pears, or bananas: before cutting the fruit, get out a shallow bowl and place several tablespoons of lemon juice in it. As you slice the fruit, dip each slice on both sides in lemon juice. This will keep them from browning.
